Shredded garden and cubed oak
My favourite work in the Forest of Dean sculpture trail, “Raw”, photographed here by Matt Burns, provides an affirmative answer to the question set by the artist:
Could you cube up a whole tree, trunk and branches from the largest size to the smallest one cut?
The resulting cube has a side of about 2m, easy enough to climb up on. What’s most impressive is the huge space around it — the space occupied by a mature oak tree.
This weekend we created our own sculpture, “Shredded garden”. With our neighbour’s permission, we pushed his garden through a letter box. Here’s the result. (Full story.)
